The 7 Habit project By Nate Mareski

Habit 1-Be Proactive I am a responsible person. I take initiative. I choose my actions ,attitude, and moods. I do not blame others for my wrong actions. I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking. This is a kid doing his homework without being asked! I am proactive when I take my dog for a walk without being asked!

Habit 2-Begin With The End in Mind
I plan ahead and set goals. I do that have meaning and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom and contribute to my schools mission and vision. I look for ways to be a good citizen. Plan everything before doing anything! For example, if you get into a collage and move in you must know about the cost. If you have $5 set aside for all of your books and classes that will definitely not be enough.

Habit 3-Put First Things First
“To live a more balanced existence, you have to recognize that not doing everything that comes along is okay. There’s no need to overextend yourself. All it takes is realizing that it’s all right to say no when necessary and then focus on your highest priorities An example of put first things first is, when you come home from school you should do your homework. Not play video games and wait till the very last second. Another example is, you should always put your seatbelt on before driving.

Habit 4-Think Win Win Most of us learn to base our self-worth on comparisons and competition. We think about succeeding in terms of someone else failing--that is, if I win, you lose; or if you win, I lose. Life becomes a zero-sum game. There is only so much pie to go around, and if you get a big piece, there is less for me; it's not fair, and I'm going to make sure you don't get anymore. We all play the game, but how much fun is it really? An example of think win win is, if there is only one cookie left and you and your friend both want it. You should split it so you guys both win! Another example of think win win is, if there is only one charger and you and your friend both need to charge your phone. You should split the time in half so you both have 50%. Then go from there.

Habit 5-Seek First To Understand Then To Be Understood
You might be saying, "Hey, now wait a minute. I'm just trying to relate to the person by drawing on my own experiences. Is that so bad?" In some situations, autobiographical responses may be appropriate, such as when another person specifically asks for help from your point of view or when there is already a very high level of trust in the relationship. One example of think first to understand then to be understood is, always listen before you talk. If a teacher is giving directions and you don’t listen and ask the same ones that she just told you. She will probrobly be very mad.

Habit 6-Synergize I value other peoples strengths and learn from them. I get along well with others, even people who are different than me. I work well in groups. I seek out other peoples ideas to solve problems because I know that by teaming with others we can create better solutions than anyone of us can alone. I am humble. This is an example of synergize because the little dog can not reach the sink so the big dog helps the little dog out and lets him stand on his back to reach the sink!

Habit 7-Sharpen The Saw I take care of my body by eating right, exercising and getting sleep. I spend time with family and friends. I learn in lots of ways and lots of places, not just school. I find meaningful ways to help others. In order for you to keep your body healthy, you must eat right and eat colorful. You must also work out to keep your body healthy. You must burn the calories you eat. But don’t burn them all!
