Leader in Me With Leader in Me students are going to learn how to be great leaders and role models while keeping a positive attitude. They will learn to set and track personal goals. They will learn how to voice their own opinion while accepting others with a positive attitude.

7 Habits of the Mind Habit #1- Be Proactive- Be responsible Habit #2- Begin with the End in Mind- Knowing what your goal is. Habit #3- Put First Things First- Do the most important things first. Habit #4- Think Win- Win- Not thinking of just yourself, but keeping others in mind. Habit #5- Seek First to Understand. Then to Be Understood- Being an active listener to get a better understanding of other viewpoints. Habit #6- Synergize- They value other ideas and strengths. Habit #7 - Sharpen the Saw- Taking care of your body, mind, and soul.

Curriculum Reading: What Good Readers Do, and How Good Readers Choose Just Right Books, Narrative Text, Informational Text, Persuasive Text, Response to Literature, Poetry, and Tall Tales. Writing: Writing a Paragraph, Informational Writing, Persuasive Writing, Narrative Writing, Response to Literature, and Poetry Math: Place Value, Multiplication, Division, Telling Time, Elapsed Time, Fractions, Decimals (just the tenths), Data Analysis (using graphs and charts to gain info), and a quick review of Money Language Arts: Synonyms, Antonyms, Subject-Predicate Agreement, Cursive Handwriting, Complete vs. Incomplete Sentences, Contractions, Possessive Pronouns, Figurative Language (idioms, puns), common Spelling Rules, Capitalization Science: Habitats, Rocks and Minerals, Earth, Heat, Magnets, & Plants Social Studies: Government, Economics (mini-society), U.S. Topographical Geography, Greek influence on Democracy, influence of Americans on Freedom and Justice (Frederick Douglass, Cesar Chavez, Franklin Roosevelt, Mary McLeod Bethune, Thurgood Marshall, and Lyndon B. Closing Please know we will be taking a field trip in late September and will need to place our class t-shirt orders very soon.
