T HERE IS N OTHING “G ENERAL ” A BOUT THE CSUF G ENERAL E DUCATION To build a comprehensive foundation of knowledge it is essential to earn 51 units of G eneral E ducation on the path to your degree from CSUF. Your 51 units of General Education will be built within the following Categories A. Core Competencies (9 units) B. Scientific Inquiry and Quantitative Reasoning (12 units) C. Arts and Humanities (12 units) D. Social Science (15 units) E. Lifelong Learning and Self Development (3 units) Z.* Cultural Diversity * Not an additional 3 units- this category is simultaneously satisfied with a course from C, D or E

I NTERPRETING THE TDA Covers every General Education Category - A, B, C, D, E & Z & Major. “-” indicates that the specific area has not been satisfied. “+” indicates that the area has been met. IP: A course is In Progress OK: indicates that the entire category is satisfied. NO: At least one area has not been satisfied within a category.

S UBJECT M ATTER C OMPETENCY All teachers need to prove they “know their stuff” in their subject areas. Pass the State Exam (CSET) California Subject Exam for Teachers – Multiple Subject

H OW TO M EET THE B ASIC S KILLS R EQUIREMENT CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test) http://www.cbest.nesinc.com/ OR http://www.cbest.nesinc.com/ ELM and EPT Score 50 or above on ELM Score 147 or above on EPT You must have taken the tests and received a score. “Exempt does not count! OR EAP Taken junior year of high school Must earn “college ready” or “exempt” “Conditionally exempt” does not count NO MIXING AND MATCHING OF SCORES!!!
