Continuation of successful ORIENT project (2007-2010, 2.5 Gbps link, over 25 substantial scientific and educational collaborative projects and programmes using the ORIENT route) Providing connectivity and services for research and education sites in Europe and China ORIENTplus connectivity is jointly funded by China and Europe: 2011-2012 (CERNET, CSTNET), 2013-2014 (EC, EU NRENs) Project duration: 42 months (07.2011 – 12.2014) Project budget: 4M€ (EC contribution: 940 k€ )

3. ORIENTplus will maintain and further develop existing high capacity connectivity (with aim at 2x2.5 Gbps or 1x10 Gbps). ORIENTplus is going to support IP traffic as well as applications demanding guaranteed bandwith ORIENTplus provides open and equal access for all European and Chinese researchers Services and tools like perfSONAR, eduroam, Bandwidth on Demand will be deployed to facilitate usage of ORIENTplus infrastructure, ORIENTplus will allow close cooperation between Chinese and European researchers by enabling high speed communication for key research projects
