4. WHO WAS JOHN?  Younger son of Zebedee, a fisherman  Mother – Salome the sister of Mary, mother of Jesus  Brother of James  Fiery and ambitious, loyal and a great friend  Became an overseer of churches in Asia Minor  Known as kind and brave – amazing what God can do!

HOW DID IT COME ABOUT?  In Ephesus as an old man reflecting on the life of his friend, Jesus  Urged by friends and leaders to write a spiritual Gospel  With a scribe to help he writes around 7 SIGNS and 7 I AM SAYINGS  Signs are miracles and wonders pointing to something greater, far deeper in meaning than the sign itself  They are acts that demonstrate Jesus is involved in the mess!
