11 Lab Assignments Assignment files can be downloaded from Blackboard Due in 2 parts –Pre-Lab Due Thursday @ 10:00 am before lab –Lab due Saturday @ 10:00 p.m. Completed Assignments must be uploaded to the appropriate Blackboard folder –separate folder for pre-lab and lab for each week

12 Late Assignments Late Assignments are not accepted except in extreme cases. –See Prof. Fontenot –Bring an Excuse –If possible, get permission before –Work ahead – submit early!!

16 Attendance Policy Lecture –Attendance is necessary for success –You’ll gain knowledge not found in the texts Lab –Attendance is mandatory –no lab attendance = no lab grade for that week

18 Data Management What is data management? What organizations need data management?

19 Why do we need management techniques? Would we have an international credit card system? Would we be able to use cell phone internationally? –How do they charge and track your calls? Where is that info stored? How does NTTA manage toll-tag charges and fines?

20 Why do we need management techniques? To quickly search for information To analyze data quickly –Forecasting –Prediction Mine for information that we didn’t even know we didn’t know. Perform calculations on massive data sets very quickly
