How Should We Organize Program Information & Data? Task at Hand –Identify and track programmatic information Primary Types of Information –(1) Program contact information –Correspondence between contacts –(2) Mfg. Partner contact information –(3) Mfg. Product/model information

Benefits of Data Management Program contacts –Facilitate communication –Consistently apply program rules across countries –Evaluate participation & energy savings Manufacturers –Consistent information about program rules –Greater ease submitting contact & product data Consumers/Buyers –Current & comprehensive product list

Progress Since Last Meeting Developing a message board –Facilitate communication between country contacts 4 to 8 weeks to implement EPA developing new database (istar) & web site –www.energystar.gov Partner, product models, product development process Give Partners ability to update information directly Formulating long term vision for managing partner & product data

Next Steps Short Term –Data needs analysis What information does each country have? How is information managed? Plan for exchanging information with EPA Long Term –Formulate & implement vision for data management

Data Needs Analysis Confirm our need to manage data –Contacts / Partners / Products & models What’s current state of our information? –Database or spreadsheet? –Access, Oracle, Excel, static documents Quantity and frequency of updating How is it used? –Program evaluation –Distributed to consumers -- web site –Export/email data to EPA for review –Readable format (Access or Excel preferred) Exchange IT contact information
