This result is then multiplied by 3. Finally, that result is decreased by 3. In terms of p, what is the final result? P P+6 P-6 3p 3p+6 Use p=6 and complete the problem using the plug in technique from last week

Work on the problem with your partner- make sure to show your work. This problem is on pg. 114 33. A number p is divided by 3 and the result is increased by 3. This result is then multiplied by 3. Finally, that result is decreased by 3. In terms of p, what is the final result? P P+6 P-6 3p 3p+6 Why do you think I chose 6? Step 3 6 6+6=12 6-6=0 3(6)=18 3(6)+6=24 Step 2- 6÷ 3=2 2+3=5 5x3=15 15-3=12 is our magic #

11 ACT MATH-Plug-In Cont’d
1. r= 10 robots 2. She needs 2 pieces of wire per robot, that’s 20 pieces. Each piece is 9 feet, that’s 9x20= 180 feet 180 feet is 180 ÷ 3 = 60 yards of wire The wire roll is 500, so = 440 yds left on the roll. 440 is our magic number

12 ACT MATH-Plug-In Cont’d
Step 3- /6(10)= = 500-1/3(10)= = (10) = = 480 500 – 6(10) = 500 – 60 = 440 500 – 9(10) = 500 – 90 = 410
