Do you or your organization have recognition in the legislature? Which party dominates the legislative branch? Who typically advocates for nursing issues? Who is on the licensure committees? Will the Governor sign if a favorable bill is passed by the legislature? Democratic: does it help or hurt APN policy? Election year: legislators do not want to vote on tough issues, and especially not take a vote between doctors and nurses. Economic trends: do APNs really provide care at a reduced cost? Are physicians and hospitals abiding by the law? ID with legislature? Do you know? Why not? Been to the capitol to spend a day?
