4 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009 ERS-2 / Envisat Tandem campaign 2008/2009  to measure the velocity of arctic fast moving glaciers around 200m/year  to generate accurate low relief digital elevation models - of particular interest for many low elevation delta regions (e.g. New Orleans, Po-Delta with Venice, The Netherlands, Bangladesh, Mekong Delta, Netherlands, northern Siberia, etc)  to improve the general understanding of interferometry and coherence  to rise interest in mapping fast land surface movements ERS-2 and Envisat

9 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009  All ITTs for the three selected candidate missions for the 7 th Earth Explorer have been issued in July  Most of the six kick-off's are expected still within 2009.  The first round of meetings of each MAG has taken place to consolidate the Phase A Mission Requirements Document Earth Explorer Seven

10 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009  The 2010 European Space Agency Living Planet Symposium will be held in Bergen, Norway from 28 June to 2 July 2010 and organised with the support of the Norwegian Space Center  Objectives:  a forum for investigators to present results of on-going research activities using ENVISAT, ERS, GOCE, SMOS, CRYOSAT and ESA Third Party missions data  presenting the development of applications and services including GMES  presenting the ESA Climate Change Initiative. 11 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009 MTG status  The first two major milestones of completing the Phase A Extension activities and releasing the B2,C/D ITT has been completed in July, on schedule.  The next key date is the receipt of industrial offers on 2 nd October and conclusion of contractor selection by the end of this year. 12 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009  Activities on the Sentinel-1, -2 and -3 missions is progressing well  The launch schedules have been redefined: S-1 May 2012, S-2 May 2013, S-3 April 2013  A draft Data Policy for the Sentinel missions has been approved by ESA Member States in September  Negotiations with GMES Contributing Missions are progressing GSC The GMES Space Component Programme

13 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009 to systematically generate and distribute long-term series of “Essential Climate Variables” (ECV) to meet needs of UNFCCC and IPCC, based on ESA archived EO data  The rationale of the initiative :  The procurement plan for the Phase 1 of the Earthwatch CCI element has been approved by IPC end of September  Programmatic activities are proceeding well. ESA Initiative on Climate Change
