William Allen White Children’s Book Awards Program~ Bringing Authors, Books, and Children Together Since 1952. *The first statewide children's choice award program in the United States. *Established by Ruth Garver Gagliardo with the direction of Emporia State University to honor the memory of the state's most distinguished citizen. *To encourage the boys and girls of Kansas to read and enjoy good books. *Commended by AASL in 2008.
