Merchant 1. One whose occupation is the wholesale purchase and retail sale of goods for profit. 2. One who runs a retail business; a shopkeeper.

Trading Partner When merchants from different regions get together and sell each other good that aren’t produced locally

Caravan 2. (esp in some parts of Asia and Africa) a company of traders or other travellers journeying together, often with a train of camels, through the desert – Can we make our own definition?

Bartering To trade goods or services without the exchange of money.

Middleman a person who buys goods from the producer and resells them to the retailer or consumer. A “go-between” who would trade goods in one region and sold them to merchants in another region.

Cultural Diffusion The process in which a new idea or a product spreads from one region to another

The Silk Road An important trade route that connected the Middle East/Europe with China
