6. Johann Joachim Becher  From Speyer Germany  Studied Everything  Even invented a universal language.  Told the Dutch government that he could turn sand into gold if they gave him enough money.  He gave Germany the potato to feed the pigs and peasants.  But he did something really awesome.

Joseph Priestly  Used a Pneumatic Trough  Priestly trapped air!  He tried this with mercuric oxide and then he put a candle in the air.  The candle practically exploded.  He tried again with mice.  Introduce Control Group.  He found that the air was interesting and did strange things to people. He actually tried it.  He discovered by accident Laughing Gas or Nitrus Oxide.

9. Scientists Ask the Tough Questions  Chemists want to know: Can this compound get any smaller? When will it be an atom and “uncuttable”? What happens if we put these atoms together? What happens if we take these atoms apart?  Like all good scientists we will do the experiments our selves and observe.
