Give thanks to the Lord

Psalm 100 For what were the pilgrims thankful? For what are you thankful? For what SHOULD we be thankful?

The 100 th Psalm was written for the people of Israel. God said to them, “When you come into the promised land & settle down in your warm homes, and you have plenty to eat, don’t forget ME. I brought you into a land flowing with milk and honey. People needed a reminder. Usually so do we.

5 Thanksgiving commands… 1.”Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth” Hb: Shout with the force of a trumpet blast.

Second command… “Serve the Lord with gladness” Mt 25:35-40 Serve without applause or appreciation.

Third command “Come before Him with joyful songs” Ps 98:4; Ps 33:3; Col 3:6; Jm 5:13 – “sing to the Lord; sing praises to the Lord; singing with thanksgiving; sing to Him a new song.”

Fourth command “Know that the Lord is God & we are His…” Ps 139:14 “…fearfully and wonderfully made…” 1 Cor 3:23 “…and you belong to Christ…”

Fifth command “Enter His gates with thanksgiving & His courts with praise; give thanks to Him & praise His name.” The temple represented the presence of God. We come by the blood of Jesus with thanksgiving in our hearts.

Questions we don’t ever have to ask ourselves What if the Lord wouldn’t bless me today because I didn’t thank Him yesterday? What if He answered my prayers the way I answer His call to serve Him day to day? What if He decided to stop leading me tomorrow because I didn’t follow Him well today?

Be blessed! Lord, we give you thanks that you do not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities, for You are a good God whose love knows no bounds. (Ps 103:10)
