7 Copyright © 2006 Metasoft Systems Inc. Grassroots Giving No Paper Trail Unions cannot obtain tax deductions for charitable donations. Individual locals give out cash to various community groups and charities and this money is not tracked by either the Federation of Labour or the CRA. Estimates from the BC Federation of Labour is that thousands of dollars are likely given in this manner with no reporting mechanism in place.
