2 Schedule for the Evening 6:30-7:00: Classroom Presentations for Kindergarten, Grade 2, and Grade 3 6:30-7:00: Principal Presentation in Cafeteria for PreK, Grade 1, and Grade 4 7:10-7:40: Classroom Presentations for PreK, Grade 1, and Grade 4 7:10-7:40: Principal Presentation in Cafeteria for Kindergarten, Grade 2, and Grade 3 6:30-7:40: Specials teachers are available to meet with parents in their rooms.

5 Curriculum: What is Current? iPads in every grade continues Math Workshop: joins writing and reading with this model continues Vocabulary instruction pilot in Kindergarten with UConn continues Making Meaning comprehension kits continues Nonfiction libraries and use expanding continues MAP Assessments School goals: Students will improve their understanding of math concepts and their ability to apply this understanding to various tasks. Students will improve their Reading Comprehension skills. Students will treat each other with respect. Parents will have knowledge about their child’s progress in reading and math prior to progress reporting periods.

6 Curriculum: What is Current? A few words about the Common Core State Standards adopted by almost all states at this point ELA: more nonfiction, more complex texts, close reading, evidence within the text, writing to argue, research to present Math: real-world problem solving, application of concepts, fluency and automaticity with facts, deep understanding, math practice standards (ex. make sense and persevere in solving problems)

8 Why schedule online? – Eliminates the need for back and forth correspondence in order for the teacher to schedule everyone at a convenient time – Allows parents to view schedules of teachers of all children in order to coordinate appointments – System provides confirmation and a reminder 2 days in advance Online Scheduler

10 Choose child’s school (AR) and enter password ARsuccess1 Enter your child’s ID number (or select LOOK UP) and verify birthday Select the teacher’s or teachers’ schedule to view available appointments and select a time that works for you Assistance is only a click away!

13 Drop-Off and Pick-Up Protocols/Safety Please watch your speed! Drop-off is a quick one along sidewalk Pick-up is in cafeteria for K-4 (foyer for PreK) If student is on pick-up list, must be signed out Please alert your child’s teacher and office with changes in status

15 Parent Teacher Organization: PTO Our PTO is the best! Meetings: first Tuesday of most months Website: TBD What they do:  Organize events  Raise funds  Support our efforts to make the children’s experience better
