What is Email? Email, or electronic mail, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients These messages can include multiple pieces of information and are fully customizable It’s just like writing a letter… but on the computer!

All you need to SIGN UP To sign up for email all that is required is a USERNAME and PASSWORD. Several popular ISPs (Internet Service Providers) also provide free email services through them. Eg) Telus, Shaw, etc…

Username/Pass Username: The name of your email address: eg) john_smith@gmail.com john_smith@gmail.com Password: Varies from site to site but generally 6-12 characters long and is chosen by YOU!

What else can it do? In addition to sending and receiving messages… You can send pictures, videos, urls, internet links, etc… Set up accounts for subscriber services including Adobe Digital Editions (for eBooks) – Adobe ID Keep in touch with friends and family… and MORE!

Spam Blockers – Block unwanted email from unknown addresses or people you don’t wish to receive mail from! Create an Address Book that keeps track of your favourite people to send messages to – then you don’t have to enter their email each time!

Contacts – Allows you to keep track of who you’ve sent email to before in case you have need to send another! Folders – Easily organize your emails, recipes, photos into folders almost like a filing cabinet! Schedule Tasks & Events – Basically a Calendar!

Some Email Terms Compose: To begin writing an email CC: Carbon Copy – makes a copy to send to more than 1 person (can be any number) – copy is the same as the original! BCC: Blind Carbon Copy – Same as a CC but none of the recipients can see the others!
