WHY IS IT IMPORTANT!?! It controls and regulates all bodily functions, such as your heart and lungs, digestion and muscle control. It is made up of the: –Brain –Spinal cord –Spinal nerves

COMPONENTS OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM The nervous system is composed of the brain and spinal cord. It contains sympathetic and parasympatheti c nerves.

ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY YAYY! It controls speech and emotion Sensory awareness, language, awareness of your surroundings Responsible for visual stimuli and memories. Concerned with emotional development and processing of sound.

CNS: Central Nervous System! Consists of the brain and spinal cord. PNS: Peripheral Nervous System!! It lays outside the brain and spinal cord. SNS: Sympathetic Nervous System!!! Controls the reduction of digestive secretions, rate of the heart, and the contracting of blood vessels. ANS: Autonomic Nervous System!!!! Controls involuntary actions of the smooth muscles. Sympathetic!!!!! Arises from the thoracic and lumbar regions. Functions in opposition to the parasympathetic system. Parasympathetic!!! Consists of nerves that arise from the cranial and sacral regions. Functions in opposition to the sympathetic system. KEY TERMS HOMIE!

Marijuana- it affects the users judgment motor skills and short term memory. Can cause an increase heart rate, make user extremely anxious or paranoid. Meth- mood changes, and also feel very anxious. Cocaine- effects the body and emotions. Alcohol- it slows down the body and making it difficult to think clearly. Drug and Alcohol Are Bad.

Diseases of the nervous system. Multiple Sclerosis- Causes shaking of limbs, involuntary movements of eyes, and affects young adults. Sciatica- Pain is felt down the back and outer side of the thigh, leg, and foot. Caused from the compression of a nerve.
