What’s a College Summit? A college summit is held at a location where students can be divided into different rooms to listen to presentations from each college. Fall for Seniors Spring for Juniors Presentation length15-20 minutes about admissions, scholarships, housing, and college life. The students rotate after each presentation to a different college.

Benefits of a College Summit In depth info about colleges Individualized attention from recruiter Smaller setting so students aren't as intimidated and will ask questions (it can be intimidating for a student to approach recruiters at college fairs) Allows recruiters to meet with a larger number of students and provide better information Slide shows and videos helps students visualize themselves at that school.

Rural College Summit Grants Who is eligible: Schools or school districts Classified as Town or Rural by the National Center for Education Statistics 50% or more Free and Reduced Price Lunch We’ll award 8-10 grants up to $1200 each We will want you to report: Which higher ed institutions participated How many students attended New partnerships/future plans formed as a result of event

Rural College Summit Grants Application deadline: Sept. 6, 2013 by 4:30pm CDT Applications emailed to Bob Obrohta at bobrohta@tncollegeaccess.org bobrohta@tncollegeaccess.org Award notification: Sept. 9, 2013 Implementation deadline: April 11, 2014 Summits for seniors must occur by Dec. 20, 2013 Summits for juniors must occur by April 11, 2014

We encourage… Partnering with other organizations to serve more students and/or reduce costs Other schools/school systems Higher education institutions (host, provide lunch, etc.) Targeting TBR, UT, and TICUA institutions Include wide range of options including technical, two- year, and four-year

RFP Applying Organization Name and Address Applicant Name and Contact Information: name, title, phone number, email address Applying Organization’s Free and Reduced Lunch percentage Please provide a Scope of Work that includes a timeline for the implementation of your Rural College Summit. (500 word maximum) Please provide descriptions of the students to be served: number to be served, juniors vs. seniors, etc. Please provide a list of the higher education institutions you will invite to participate in your Rural College Summit. Please include any confirmations you have already received. Budget and Budget narrative How will you track the results of your Rural College Summit? (250 word maximum)
