5 Bill Rammells PMI Export Mission to Korea, 30-31 May 2007 Calls included meeting with the Education Vice Minister, CREDU (Koreas largest private e- learning and lifelong learning corporation, part of Samsung); press interviews; Korean Council for University Education, KCUE (UUK equivalent); University Presidents roundtable; KRIVET (national vocational training agency); ending with a speech at Korea University to academics and students. The Minister led a delegation of 5 HE Vice Chancellors plus a senior lecturer, 4 College Principals and the Vice Chair of English UK.

6 The British Council will strengthen its existing work in supporting partnerships through: Increased opportunities for match-making between appropriate institutions Increased focus on identifying and targeting UK alumni within Korean institutions, to provide them with support to act as ambassadors for UK education -> Korean faculty alumni reception (Sep 07) HE workshop in partnership with KAIE, to identify partners (Oct 07) FE college visit & workshop to Korea, in collaboration with KCCE, to identify partners (April 08) Developing a policy dialogue seminar, as part of the East Asia regional PMI2 symposia programme, to focus on international research collaboration as a driver for the internationalisation of universities (tentatively planned for spring 08) Bill Rammells visit – follow up action

7 MoE Higher Education Study Visit to UK A follow up to Ministerial visit in May UK- Korea policy level dialogue 2-8 September 2007 6 Officials from the MoE and KCUE on higher education a one-week programme including sessions with the British Council, DIUS, HEFCE, QAA and visits to leading UK universities (Warwick, Swansea) Will lead to PMI2 Symposia scheduled in early 2008

8 Korea Partnership Market intelligence available on the Country Partnership website: - Contact list of local schools - Profiles of agents - Profiles of local institutions (Junior Colleges) - Ranking of local universities (i.e. KCUE, ChungAng Ilbo) - List of local university/courses taught in English

9 Korea Partnership New services/ offers to Korea Partners: - Academic lectures - Access to your Korean alumni data - FE outward mission and workshop - HE outward mission (in the future)
