3 Famine  Seven good years have passed  Famine is severe  Jacob sends his sons to buy more grain  Judah reminds him—they cannot go without Benjamin

4 Judah’ promise  Why did you tell ‘the man’ you had another brother  We must have food or die  I will be responsible for Benjamin

5 Back to Egypt  Jacob sends gifts for ‘the man’  They take double money Plus the money returned from first trip  Pray that God will return Simeon (and Benjamin)  “If I am bereaved, I am bereaved!”

6 Before Joseph  Takes them to his house  Prepares a meal  Brothers are afraid  Try to explain the money  They prepare the presents for Joseph

7 Joseph Comes Home  They bow before Joseph (dream)  “Is your father well”  Joseph sees Benjamin He has to leave the room to weep  He returns for the meal  They are seated in age order Joseph eats alone

8 Leaving Egypt  Food in their sacks  Joseph’s silver cup is put in Benjamin’s sack  Servants sent after them “Why have you repaid evil for good?”  They are so sure no one took the cup Let the guilty one die

9 Joseph’s Cup  The guilty one will be my servant  The cup was found in Benjamin's sack  They return (in disbelief) to Joseph  How do we clear ourselves?  Everyone but the guilty one may go  Benjamin is my slave

10 Judah’s Plea  Our father is old  Benjamin is son of his old age  Brother is dead  Your request to bring him here  If we return without Benjamin our father will die  Let me stay in his place

11 Joseph’s Revelation  He sends everyone from the room  Joseph tells his brothers who he is “I am Joseph; does my father still live?”  They are in shock  There is much weeping  “God sent me before you to preserve life”

12 More Famine  Five more years of famine  It was not you who sent me here, but God  He has made me a father to Pharaoh  Lord of all his house  A ruler throughout all the land of Egypt  Go get our father

13 Pharaoh’s Assistance  Load your animals  Take carts  Bring your family  I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land  The best of all the land of Egypt is yours

14 Returning to Jacob  Joseph is still alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt  Jacob did not believe them  “It is enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die”

15 Trip To Egypt  Sacrifices at Beersheba  God tells Jacob to go to Egypt “for I will make of you a great nation there” “I will also surely bring you up again”  Jacob, his family, and possessions move to Egypt

16 Arriving in Egypt  Seventy people move to Egypt In the speech of Stephen (Ac 7:14) the number is stated to be seventy-five  They come to Goshen  “Now let me die, since I have seen your face, because you are still alive”  Tell Pharaoh you are shepherds shepherds are an abomination to the Egyptians

17 Lessons  Perseverance  Guilt fear  Forgiveness  God’s purpose/plan  Faith
