The Civil War began on April 12, 1861 because of Lincoln’s election in office of the President. Many people believed that the agriculture and economic systems would be decreased. Then it ended with Lincoln’s assassination and lasted 4 years until it ended on April 9, 1865.

Fort Sumter: 1st Battle of the Civil War and one of the biggest. Battle of Bull Run: 2 nd Battle of the Civil War. Battle of Fort Fisher. Battle of Gettysburg: Ranged from 1861-1865 left more than 6000 dead and the main turning point in the Civil War. Battle of Appomattox Courthouse: Last battle in the Civil War where the Confederacy surrenders.

Two Categories: Smoothbore and Rifled Cannon Cannons, Shotguns, Chain Shot; Two balls connected by a chain. Small: Pistols, Revolvers, Smoothbore, Muskets. Edged: Bayonets, Sabers, Swords, Bowie Knives- Which are now used in Surgeries by Doctors.

Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, Judah P. Benjamin- one of Jefferson Davis’ most trusted cabinet members, Thomas ‘Stonewall’ Jackson. The Confederates led the South.

Abraham Lincoln-President of the United States at the time, Ulysses S. Grant, General John F. Reynolds, General William Tecumseh Sherman, Fredrick Douglas. The Union men led the North.

President of the United States during the Civil War. He had many children die at a young age. Signed the Emancipation Proclamation, a document freeing the black slaves, where many people rejoiced and many were very unhappy. When the war was at it’s worst, people were getting very upset at him because he was sending thousands more men to go out and fight.

His wife and children died when he was about 24, a very young adult. He worked with Lincoln during the Civil War. When he was transferred to Atlanta, Georgia for war business, he was arrested when he arrived. Both the North and the South came together to free Davis to have them on there sides. He was eventually freed after the assassination of Lincoln was over.

I believe that the Civil War changed everybody's perspective of how they see America and what they think about the North and the South. It seems that people always seem to think about Abraham Lincoln and slavery when it comes to the Civil War and I know many people that are happy that slavery has been freed, especially me!

SSouth Carolina was the first state to suceed or pull away from the states and begin the Union. AAlso referred to the war against the States because it was mostly fought between the North an South states. The last man to die in the war was killed over a month after the surrending ceremony in a battle at Palmito Ranch n Texas.

The first battle of the Civil War took place in Fort Sumter, South Carolina. The Southern states eventually formed the Confederate states of America(confederacy for short). During the Civil War, the southern soldiers were referred to as the Confederates for this reason.
