1 Is it reasonable to believe in God?
Divine revelation --God’s self-communication through which He makes known the mystery of His Divine Plan. Is it reasonable to believe in God? (Article 9, p 34)

2 The Blessed Trinity: the central mystery of the Catholic faith.
The Blessed Trinity is the mystery of WHO GOD IS three divine persons in one God. Water Ice Vapor The three persons are distinct, yet are one "substance, essence , or nature."

3 SALVATION HISTORY The one true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—has been present and active in the lives of His people since the beginning of time. “As prayer is the voice of human beings to God, so revelation is the voice of God to man.” “The Father’s Love”

4 God invites us into communion with the blessed trinity through salvation history.
“Every time we read or hear the Word of God, we are led ever deeper into the mystery and wonder of God.”

5 OLD TESTAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
Adam and Eve (Gen 2-5) Original Sin turned away from God. sin, sickness, death God did NOT turn away from them. Noah (Gen 5-10) God is not the ultimate cause of the flood. Humanity’s destructive sin is the cause of the flood. God cares for humanity and all of creation. He does not bring evil and destruction to creation; humanity does so when we stray from His will.

Tower of Babel (Gen 11) pride of humanity Abraham, the patriarch God begins His plan to reconcile all humanity with Himself by calling a special people to be His light to the nations. Moses and the Exodus God’s law of the Covenant?

7 What About You? Although God revealed His will and plan to Adam, Even, Abraham, and Moses, humanity’s inclination to sin stood in the way of God’s plan. Is the same true in today’s world? Do you ever feel that you, yourself, are standing in the way of God’s plan?

Record three verses that call the Israelites to turn away from sin and back to God.

9 Wisdom Literature Wisdom Literature The Old Testament Books of Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes, Sirach, and the Wisdom of Solomon, which extol the virtue of wisdom. “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” ~James 3:17

10 The Fullness of All Revelation
SOME FACTS: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is the Word made Flesh. There is no greater Word and no greater Word can ever be conceived. Jesus is our instruction manual for interpreting all creation and its final end. What do you know about Jesus?

11 The Transmission of Divine Revelation
Jesus Christ commanded the Apostles to tell all people and all nations what they had heard and seen regarding the salvation of God. This handing on, or transmission, of the truths that Jesus Christ taught is known as Sacred Tradition.

12 Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition
“There are so many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that could be written.” (John 21:25) What is dogma? The deposit of faith includes all the truth contained in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. It is entrusted to the Magisterium.

13 The Transmission of Divine Revelation
What do you think of when you hear “transmission”? Sacred Tradition will continue “under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, to all generations, until Christ returns in glory” (CCC, 96). Apostolic Succession Who are the apostles’ successors?
