 What is Pangaea?  What evidence do we have to claim the theory of Pangaea?  Fossils  Climate  Rocks

 If the plates are moving, then why don’t we fall into magma, or all the water boil away?  Is there something holding the water?  What are the plates and crust made of?  What are the 2 layers called that make up the plates?

 How are they different?  What happens at plate boundaries?  What different ways can plates move?  Divergent, convergent, sliding  What is subduction?  Why do the plates move?

 Which waves do the most damage and why?  How do we measure earthquakes and vibrations from the earth?  How do we locate where an earthquake happened?  An underwater earthquake can create a tsunami, but why is it so dangerous?

 Describe what causes an earthquake?  Where do earthquakes occur?  What are the 3 types of faults?  Normal, reverse, and strike-slip  As a fault moves what does it create?  Mechanical waves  What are 3 types of seismic waves?  How do we keep safe from earthquakes

 What is a volcano?  How does it affect the earth and plate tectonics?  Describe the different volcanoes and their properties  Shield- start at bottom and build up  Cinder cone- created by gasses and don’t last long  Composite- steep side that can explode  Fissure- liquid lava flows free, cover lots of area

 As a volcano erupts, what is the most dangerous part?

 describe the historical development of evidence that supports plate tectonic theory;  relate plate tectonics to the formation of crustal features.  interpret topographic maps and satellite views to identify land and erosional features and predict how these features may be reshaped by weathering.

 Review superposition and how plate movements effect it.
