Educational Activities in 2009 Continuing Education Continuing Education Portal: EAB initiated an effort to strategically focus continuing education across IEEE. As a first step, a portal has been launched that contains an inventory of online offerings across IEEE: http://www.ieee.org/web/education/prodev/index.html http://www.ieee.org/web/education/prodev/index.html IEEE Expert Now Objective is to develop a critical mass of continuing education modules in clusters in key content areas New authors and content partners are being added EAB is launching a professional certification program in biometrics EAB makes an effort to increase the number of members taking courses through the Education Partners Program 2

Educational Activities in 2009 University Education –Plan an IEEE/IBM sponsored conference focusing on Systems-oriented Engineering Education, March 2010 –Establish a pilot for a summer school program on emerging technologies –Identify needs for EAB efforts in India –Develop model curricula in Biometrics and Systems Engineering –Expand the Technical English Program in Region 8 and Region 9 –Develop the new IEEE-HKN Board of Governors upon merger between IEEE and HKN –Outreach to IFEES 4

Educational Activities in 2009 Accreditation Assist in improving governance of ABET (US) Assist in developing accreditation procedures for programs that use non-traditional delivery methods in ABET (US) Assist English speaking countries in the Caribbean to create their own accrediting body (CACET) Participate in efforts leading to China becoming a provisional member in the Washington Accord Plan a conference on global trends and emerging challenges in accreditation In Region 8 – to assess the impact of the Bologna Process and new accreditation initiatives In Region 9 – to develop regional cooperation and address program structure, content and titles 8-Feb-145
