doc.: IEEE 802.11-09/0623r1 Submission May 2009 Jon Rosdahl, CSRSlide 2 Abstract A proposed change to the current approved P&P was made during the Opening Plenary of the 802.11 May 2009 Interim Session. This file captures that proposed change and additional discussion points that were made during the week. This file also contains the changes that should be made to the existing old-style 802.11 P&P due to approved changes from previous sessions and requirements.

Teleconferences may not be held more frequently than weekly.

doc.: IEEE 802.11-09/0623r1 Submission May 2009 Jon Rosdahl, CSR Proposal for P&P Change #1 Change to 3.6.3 Teleconferences in existing P&P –11-07-0360-04-0000-802-11-policies-and-proceedures.doc Change the last sentence Teleconferences may not be held more than twice per week. Rationale: The restriction of holding only one Teleconference per Task Group dates back to the era when there were only PHY and MAC activities But now is an impediment to completing comment resolution. Because we need to: – reduce use of adhoc meetings (cost reduction) –accommodate discussions over several time zones. –Meet time critical deadlines Impact: TG will be able to request extra Teleconferences in order to meet specific time requirements or time zone needs. TG will still be expected to be prudent with time requirements of the WG members.

doc.: IEEE 802.11-09/0623r1 Submission May 2009 Jon Rosdahl, CSRSlide 5 Editorial updates and Document Number Since the last Formally approved 802.11 P&P, we have not published any of the updates that were in the meeting minutes or the 2008 officer changes. The current P&P states that each year the P&P shall be posted to the xx/0001 document. So, the changes that get approved today should be posted to doc 09/0001r1 Document 09/0001r0 will be the new WG P&P based on the baseline, and it will be reposted with a new number and submitted to the 802 EC for approval. This will then become our current P&P until we get the 802 EC to determine when they will allow the WGs to adopt the new AudCom required format.

The rule given above is consistent with the 802 LMSC Policies and Procedures by deeming active any member who has returned 4 out of 6 consecutive mandatory WG letter ballots.
