Mechanics Capitals to emphasis the name of the lady that the writer love the most. to attract the reader to pay attention to it and it’s like telling the reader that this lady with this name is damn important for the writer. to make readers ‘aware’ of the lady named Annabel Lee throughout the poem. example : in the first stanza, line 4 ‘ANNABEL LEE’

Diction Connotative Meaning The phrase ‘in a kingdom by the sea’ is repeated throughout the poem. The words ‘maiden’ is used instead of a ‘woman’ in the poem to represent Annabel Lee.

Grammar past tense Example: first stanza, line1 (was) second stanza, line 3 (loved) The writer wrote this poem after his wife who is Annabel Lee died of tuberculosis.

Example from text : It just merges into all my other visits to London. 2- Comma Used before the conjunction that join two main clauses Example from text : The lights were brilliant, and I brought her round for the first curve all right. Used to separate the part of a series Example from text : Then I remember the big motor with its glaring head-lights and glitter of polished brass, waiting for me outside.
