3. Worship Music for Emotion? ADVANTAGES Music could enhance the text. It is best when it is combined with the mind by the Word. DISADVANTAGES We must be careful to distinguish sentimentality from emotional experience of divine presence. Music can be manipulative.

4. Worship Music for Ethics? ADVANTAGES 1. It is the most powerful agent, either of the good or of the evil. 2. It can encourage worship, directing people what to do. DISADVANTAGES 1. It can be manipulative. 2. Often it is used as conditioner for preaching or altar call.

5. PRINCIPLES FOR MUSIC MINISTRY 1. The pastor must be involved in music ministry. 2. The pastor needs to specifically emphasize that music is not performance and that the focus should be on God alone. 3. Beware of transition before and after musical numbers. It must be smooth. 4. Watch a soloist who wants to preach before they sing. 5. Instrumentalist and choir should lead to sing.

6. HOW TO INSPIRE PEOPLE FOR MUSIC MINISTRY? 1. Workshop to enhance their skill. 2. Fellowship with other church musicians. 3. Personal relationship to God. 4. Accountability to others in program. 5. Personal responsibility to offer the possible best music to God.

7. 2 Directions of Music Ministry VERTICAL Vehicle of adoration and praise to God. HORIZONTAL Vehicle of ministering the body of Christ, attracting people to Christ.

8. HOW TO STRENGTHEN MUSIC MINISTRY? 1. Identify and capitalize your own strength. 2. Seek out a role model in another church. 3. Identify and work on your weakness. 4. Resist comfort of mediocrity. 5. Set a reachable short term goals. 6. Taking risk, assume the responsibility of outcome. 7. Encourage people with consistency.
