PLANNING 1.Specifying the task in terms of : ▫Time ▫Budget ▫Staff 2.Determining the duration of the system project tasks 3.Determine the resources needed to complete the work

SCHEDULING Determining the dependency of the tasks A popular tool is the use of a Gantt Chart ▫Shows tasks done against time by using the MICROSOFT PROJECT ▫Useful tools for planning and scheduling projects

TRACKING AND MONITORING Tracking : ▫Comparing actual progress of the system project to plan Monitoring ▫Gantt Charts are useful for monitoring the project’s progress ▫PERT / CPM are use for a more complex project PERT / CPM is a project management tool used to estimate, schedule and manage a network of interdependent project tasks

REPORTING 3 types of reports : 1.Variance Critical in identifying when a project is off-track Less useful in identifying what is causing the problems 2.Status Open-ended report that details the process that led to the current project state 3.Resource allocation Identifies resources in term of person-hours, equipments that are apply use for specific project tasks Status and resources allocation are more helpful in determining the source and possible correction of project’s problem
