What can IIS assist you with?
Introduction IIS Integrated Information System (IIS) What can IIS assist you with? Other than as illustrated, IIS also allows you to:- View your timetable Download the examination timetables Monitor your academic performance Register for supplementary exams Request for academic documents and academic transcripts View and print your semester results Vote for the Student Council President and Vice-President Request for counselling Submit your Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) participation Access the Online Journals, etc. Choose subject Check fees <Script> The first system I would like you to know is [Click] Integrated Information System (Also known as IIS). [Click] What is IIS? Let’s us try to recall back when you were in secondary school for local student. I remember there is science stream or art stream… Let’s say science/art stream… Can you tell me what subject did you take in your high school/secondary school? Add math, chemistry, Physics… Did you being informed the timetable when the first you go to school? If yes, it means you were living in good life when you were in secondary school… Because those subjects were already pre-arranged for you. / No worry, you can still live a good life now… In University level, you still choose the subject [Choose Subject] by your own… like choose add math, English, physics and so on in secondary school…the different is you will be using IIS system to choose… After you have chosen all the subjects [Check fees], you would want to know how much tuition fee you need pay. Then, what you ‘ll need to do after check fees… of course (make some jokes…click exit) [Make payment] make payment. Next, throughout studying the whole semester and you have completed your final exam, what will you exciting about? [Check results] Check results, right? [Click next] Now. What is LMS? Throughout you studied in your secondary school/tuition center, do you remember you were been given any exercises & notes or homeworks in hardcopy or softcopy by using thumbdrive or transfer? Then you wait and wait and wait for the file transfer, then you realize it maybe failed the transfer due to the file is error or too big size hence will take longer time. The LMS is providing the platform that [Exercises & Notes] you can retrieve your notes, [Tests & Hmworks] do and perform tests & homeworks, [Click - Communicate] Chit-chatting with teacher and friends, and [Click] form a group discussion. It is an easy as a facebook-like. Let’s not to forget mention this [Click - Online] All these system can be doing through online. When I mentioned online, means you can do it in everywhere, your home, café…toilet, just make sure there is internet provided. In summary… IIS as Integrated Information System [Click] will be focus more on record purposes on administration platform, Where LMS as Learning Management System [Click] will be focus more on studying purposes on academic platform. Introduction LMS What can LMS assist you with? Learning Management System (LMS) Other than as illustrated, LMS also allows you to:- Exercises & notes Download all the lecture notes and assignment questions for the classes you attend each semester Access videos recommended by your lecturers Participate in online assignments and submit assignments online to your lecturers Participate in discussion forums with your classmates and lecturers to further assist you in your learning at UCSI University Communicate with your lecturers Check out ongoing activities held in UCSI University Communicate with teacher Tests, quizzes & homework <Script> The first system I would like you to know is [Click] Integrated Information System (Also known as IIS). Terminology and Definition
School = University Headmaster, Principal = HOP, HOD 1. Head of Programme (HOP) 2. Head of Department/School (HOD) Teacher = Lecturer Programmes = The field or area of study Subject = Course <Script – pg 3> Since you are just upgrading to University level, some terms and definition you will have to know first. [Click] School becomes University [Click] then the academic programmes refers as the field or area you study, or you major to…. [Click] HOP, HOD are like your headmaster or principal [Click] Teacher will become lecturer [Click] We no longer call subject, but we call it course [Click] Course selection is a process to select the courses you plan to study for the upcoming semester which you will be doing it soon. To Access IIS Go to IIS student portal (Direct url): Where to get my User ID and Password ??? <Script – pg 8> [Click] After clicking the link, you will see this page [Click] Wait, where to get my User ID and Password? Do you know where? It’s ok, I’ll show you where…[Click] You have 3 options to get your user ID and password First option [Click], Check your personal inbox. Second option [Click], Click “Forgotten my password” Third option [Click], Bring offer letter to support counter… Hold on, [Click] where is support counter? I’ll let you know at the end of presentation. Feedback:- Attention, it is very important to know where to obtain your password. When you register with UCSI, the password will be auto-generated and forwarded to your personal . 3 options:- 1. Check your personal inbox or spam folder 2. Click “Um.. Student Assigned Tasks
Click Home <Script – pg 14> Hey student… Only 3 processing stages you will need to perform. First [Click], Pre-course selection stage. To perform student declaration and pay fees. Second [Click], During-course selection stage. To select courses. And third [Click], Post-course selection stage. To login to LMS and enroll classes in LMS. I’ll explain “How” in Pre-CS stage first. **To put Course selection definition before this page 3 processing stages;- In the first stage is Pre-CS stage, student will just complete two tasks as stated. Next stage is During-CS stage, student are about to enter to the class and study, but in order to make your name appear in the class, you will have to register by selecting the courses first. Final stage is Post-CS stage, enroll to the class in LMS, get the lecture notes to study. The Course Selection Process
During-CS Stage <Script – pg 21> THEN AGAIN… In case you might overlook some of the requirements, [Click] double check the requirement as per listed. Student declarations, pay fees, if you missed the chance to report yourself to SAA, feel free to do it later at level 3, Block A. And etc such as appendix 1 or additional document submission to Registrar Office (RO). After fulfil the requirements, you may proceed to [Click] begin your course selection. Select courses and submit for approval process, either reject or amend, you’ll have to re-select courses until your selected courses approved. At that point, you can proceed to select tutorials & labs if you have tutorial classes or labs, if no, you can straight finish the course selection. Thereafer, you will have to ensure you already make the tuition fees to complete the whole process. 3. To emphasize if you (student) have not reporting to SAA, kindly proceed to SAA counter Back to top

FAQ Q: What is Course Selection? A: A process to select the course(s) you plan to study for the next semester. Q: Why do I need to click ‘pay fees’ even though payment has already been made? A: This section provides the information of your fees. The task is required to acknowledge and clear your payment status. Q: What do I do if my Course Selection isn’t successful to proceed? A: Kindly refer to the message prompted on the screen. Read through and check on the incomplete tasks. Q: How do I select my course(s)? A: Course selection can be done through the IIS Student Portal. Q: How do I know which course(s) to select? A: Refer to the Y-Table, which will assist you in selecting your courses. FAQ Q: What will happen after I’ve selected my courses?
A: All selected courses will need to go through the approval process, carried out by the Head of Programme (HOP) or assigned by the course approver. Q: What should I do if the Head of Programme (HOP) advices me to add or drop the course(s) after approval? A: There are stipulated period for Add/Drop stated in the academic calendar. You can add or drop course(s) during the Add/Drop period. Q: Who do I refer to in advance if the timetable is yet to be announced (TBA)? A: Kindly refer to the respective faculty. Q: What’s next … A: Enroll to LMS class by referring to the access code in IIS or your lecturer.
