3 Post Review Inspect post every day to: identify hazards be familiar with signs, signals and markings.

5 Hazards standing water, mud, ice or snow broken pavement open drainage grates unsafe loading or unloading vehicles vehicles parked in crosswalks Report hazards that make walking difficult:

6 Hazards Sight obstructions include: Temporary parked cars bushes or low-hanging tree branches snow banks trash cans Fixed signal controller boxes signs mail boxes

7 Hazards Never Park: on a crosswalk on a sidewalk within 25 feet of a crosswalk within 50 feet of a STOP sign 25 feet (N.J.S.A. 39:4-138)

8 Hazards Report Other hazards: speeding motorists inattentive motorists suspicious activity You are the eyes on the street!

9 Hazardous Weather In rain, fog, sleet, hail, and snow: Reduced visibility Surfaces can quickly become slippery Stopping distances increase Curb ramps and sidewalks can be blocked Behavior can change with the weather.

10 Sun Glare Sun glare can impair drivers’ ability to see. Rush hour is often the time when sun glare is strongest, from about 7:30-9 a.m. & from 5-6:30 p.m. When the sun is at your back, assume that cars moving towards you cannot see you at all J. A. Montgomery Risk Control, November 2011

11 Hazardous Weather Wear: Comfortable boots or shoes that provide traction Brimmed hat for sun Dress for the weather! No sandals or flip flops!

12 Hazardous Weather Make sure traffic stops before stepping into the road. Plan an escape. Wear safety vest outside of all clothing. In bad weather, be extra careful: No Umbrellas

13 Traffic Incident Reporting Carry a pen and notepad Record a description Report violation to supervisor Do not disrupt crossing Report traffic violations that endanger crossing:
