4 Code of Conduct Updates & Reminders

5 Dress Code General Reminders –No holes in garments –Females: Skirts, dresses, & shorts must be fingertip length Leggings are considered panty hose. –Appropriate length of dresses, skirts, or shorts will be checked even if leggings are worn.

6 Attendance NEW POLICY: –Any absence that is not a doctor’s note (2X) or court excuse (3X) is counted toward the 12 absence limit. If you have 12 or more unexcused, parent-excused, or principal-excused absences, you will not be excused for further absences without a doctor or court note. A student who has 4 unexcused absences in a semester shall be reviewed for denial of academic credit for excessive absences.

7 Make-up Work NEW POLICY: –If a student is absent on the day an assignment is due AND the student was informed of the due date prior to being absent, that assignment is due on the day the student returns to school.

8 Academic Honesty NEW POLICY: There are three forms of academic dishonesty covered in the Code of Conduct: –Cheating –Plagiarism –Fabrication/Falsification Consequences for Academic Dishonesty: –Awarding of reduced credit or no credit (i.e., a “zero”) –Documentation in the student’s individual conduct file –Additional consequences as applicable to the particular incident (i.e., Saturday School or ISD, etc.)

9 Tardies To School Tardies to school = any sign-in after 7:40 a.m. without allowable excuse. NOTE: Traffic issues are not considered allowable by state regulations. # of Tardies to School Student who drives to school Student who does not drive to school 3 Parking Pass suspended for 5 school days Detention and/or Saturday School 4 Parking pass suspended for 10 days In-School Detention — 1 successful day Subsequent Tardies Parking pass suspended for 9 school weeks (rules for reinstatement apply) 1 day of suspension and a Pre-Early Warning Referral

10 Tardies To Class Tardies to class = Student arrives after or is not in his/her seat when the bell rings. Tardies to class Consequences 6 2 hours of detention 9 Saturday School 12 1 successful day of In-School Detention 15 Extended In-School Detention

11 Electronic Communication Device Usage *The visible or audible use of personal communication device, including but not limited to cell phones, beepers, messaging devices, and walkie-talkies. *The school is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones or electronic devices if students do not follow the appropriate policies for storing devices during the school day. 1 st offense In-School Detention – 1 successful day 2 nd offense In-School Detention – 3 successful days Subsequent offenses Out-of-School Suspension

12 In-School Detention Location – 2 nd Floor above the gym Teacher – Mr. Vanderford Must complete all work appropriately –If not, more days in ISD will result.
