2 Before you can take the TSI assessment, you must participate in a Pre-Assessment You will be asked, “Were you provided with information and/or an activity to help you understand all of the following: 1 the importance of this assessment, 2 sample questions, 3 course options, and 4 resources for students?” You must document your completion of the Pre-Assessment Activity You must be able to answer “YES” to take the TSI test

5 The score range on the TSI Assessment in all sections is 310-390 TSI Math- College Readiness 350 TSI Reading- 351 TSI Writing- 5 on the essay or 363 with a 4 on the essay What if I score below the passing standard? Diagnostics Adult Basic Education

6 ACT- composite score of a 23 with a 19 in English and 19 in Math SAT- composite score of 1070 with 500 in Critical Reading and 500 in Math TAKS- ELA score of 2200 with a 3 or higher in writing and 2200 in Math (can have partial exemptions)

7 TSI Math is 20 questions that covers the four content areas. There are four questions in each section of the diagnostic test. TSI Reading is 24 questions with 10-12 items in each section of the diagnostic test. TSI Writing is 20 questions with 10-12 items in each section of the diagnostic test. You may also be asked to write a five paragraph persuasive essay.

12 February 1 (deadline January 17) March 22 (deadline March 7) April 26 (deadline April 11) June 5 (deadline May 22)

13 Registration forms can be found in the Go Center, Main office, Counseling Center, and the 12 th grade Principal’s office Complete your registration form and return to A115 in the Main office along with your payment (cash or money order only) Space is limited and seats will be filled in order of registration submission Make sure to meet registration deadlines Lufkin High School TSI Testing Center

14 If you receive accommodations on testing through 504 or special services, you will be provided accommodations on the TSI Assessment at Lufkin High School You are responsible for registering your accommodations on your registration form See your Counselor for more information Lufkin High School TSI Testing Center

15 You will receive a TSI placement score If you met the passing standard, you will be able to register for college credit classes

16 If you did not meet the passing standard, your institution may use additional factors to determine placement High school grade point average/class ranking Other test scores Courses from your high school transcript

17 If you did not meet the passing standard, options and resources may include: Developmental courses & Intervention plans Course-pairing & Non-Course Competency Based Options Tutors & Instructional Aides Technology delivered developmental courses Workforce Education & Community Based Organizations Workforce Solutions & Adult Literacy Programs Contact an advisor at your institution of choice to learn about campus and community resources that will help you succeed as a college student

18 You can re-take the TSI when you are ready and will be required to pay each time you test You will only re-test in the area needed

19 Your verification form is your acknowledgement of the following statement: “Were you provided with information and/or an activity to help you understand all of the following: 1 the importance of this assessment, 2 sample questions, 3 course options, and 4 resources for students?” You must document your completion of the Pre-Assessment Activity You must be able to answer “YES” to the above statement in order to take the TSI test
