Augmented reality applied to Resilience Management LLP Programme Knowledge Alliances“Collaborative Reformation of Curricula on Resilience Management with Intelligent Systems in Open Source and Augmented Reality”20 – 21 May 2015 Bologna Valeria Sciarretta Ud’Anet Srl
2
The topic Augmented reality (AR) is future technology for the now. This rapidly emerging medium enables new ways of thinking, seeing, interacting, engaging and communicating with your audience at a multi-sensory level.
3
What’s AR Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. With the help of advanced AR technology (e.g. adding computer vision and object recognition) the information about the surrounding real world of the user becomes interactive and digitally manipulable. Artificial information about the environment and its objects can be overlaid on the real world
4
AR in tourism sector
6
How augmented reality works Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology enriching the real world with digital information and media, such as 3D models and videos, overlaying in real-time the camera view of your smartphone, tablet, PC or connected glasses
7
Augmented Reality: How we can Use It?
8
What we need? Camera Mobile device or Tablet Data base /server for the virtual objects Glasses GPS and Connection
9
In which kind of environments we can use the AR? At the beginning it was used for the following sectors Advertisement Tourism Marketing and social media Now is applied also to reserach sectors Health and Safety Emergency Resilience Any drill environment Cultural heritage in a civil war
10
How AR can be use in resilience environment? As a didactic tool in a drill environment As a management tool for the team in emergency situation As a tool in emergency scenario
11
Drill simulation – scenario in outdoor
12
Localization of the emergency and guide for evacuation plan (3d, voice, and GPS)
13
IN case of indoor Environment
14
Localization of emergency team
15
Emergency team status Therefore, the organization of drill level is into three phases: introduction and explanation, evacuation, and final debriefing (recognize and release emotion built up during simulation, safe place to express feeling, mistake part of the learning process)
16
In emergency situation How augmented reality technologies can be used to improve efficiency of rescue services in city? Emergency team arrive at chaotic scenes and need to make sense of the environment and navigate a place they've never been. Wouldn't it be cool if they could see a virtual map of the site or have "X-ray vision" to see underground water and power lines? Thanks to AR they can use location data of power lines, water and gas pipes in order to help rescue services in the city in a case of emergency.
