2 Engaging community Values The Vision and Mission of Volunteers of Banyule are underpinned by its commitment to the following fundamental values which guide the way it delivers all its services for the benefit of the local community.

7 Engaging community History first incorporated in February 1999 founding members Sr Margaret Ryan, RSM AO Mr Charles Lewis Banyule City Council assisted the formation of the Volunteers of Banyule Resource Centre by donating $5,000 and office space in an unused community centre in Watsonia in 2008, Banyule City Council provided new offices in the Hawdon St Community Hall current funding Banyule City Council Nillumbik Shire Council Federal Government

9 Engaging community Objectives Volunteers of Banyule have four primary objectives: 1.to provide information to individuals about volunteering so they can chose whether or not it is what they want 2.to assist people who want to volunteer to find a suitable role 3.to assist non-profit organisations with recruitment strategies and support business volunteering 4.to promote volunteering

11 Engaging community Outcomes 2009-2010 Worked with 140+ not-for-profit organizations Covering over 27 different roles, ie. IT, Gardening, Youth Services, Retail, Teaching. placing over 419 local people in volunteer roles. Assisted 982 people towards volunteering and 172 community organizations or agencies.
