Magnet Controls Group LCLS Magnet Controls luchini@slac.stanford.edu August 16, 2006 5 New Systems – Hardware Status Magnets November installation DC cables Phase 1 installed, Phase 2 completed by mid-December Racks, power supplies, PS controllers, terminal server, VME/PLC crates and modules for small PS All in B24, except 200V, 50A SOL2 power supply due September 15, 2006. 15 new MCOR12/6s replace MCOR30s PLC, 90% of VME modules here and installed, remainder October Move all to Sector 20 on September 15 AC Power Panel-boards exist, CBs and conduit installation Sep 25 – Oct 16

Magnet Controls Group LCLS Magnet Controls luchini@slac.stanford.edu August 16, 2006 6 Modified S21 QE System – Hardware Status Magnets, DC cables and racks 3 feet Bulk PS to new isolation and reversing/shorting switch chassis Power supplies and controllers QE21201/301 reversing/shorting switch chassis fabricated and bench tested. Bulk PS isolation switch chassis – fabricated by 9/30 Install first week of October CAMAC crates and modules exist AC Control Power Exists

Magnet Controls Group LCLS Magnet Controls luchini@slac.stanford.edu August 16, 2006 7 New Systems – Design Documentation Status DC Cables EIs (Change some MCOR30s to MCOR12/6s), CAPTAR list, power supply spreadsheet Racks, power supplies, PS controllers VME/PLC crates, modules and terminal server Specifications, front views and manufacturer’s drawings/manuals, EPICS/VME integration documents PLC wiring diagram undergoing some changes CB hazard analysis completed – requested labels from CEF Manuals, cable lists AC Power One lines, panel-board schedules

Magnet Controls Group LCLS Magnet Controls luchini@slac.stanford.edu August 16, 2006 8 Modified S21 QE System – Design Documentation Status DC cables On modified EI diagram Racks and accessories Existing – one front view needs updating Power supplies and controllers Bulk PS Isolation chassis and QE201/301 magnet reversing / shorting switch chassis wiring diagrams AC power Existing 120VAC control

Magnet Controls Group LCLS Magnet Controls luchini@slac.stanford.edu August 16, 2006 9 New and Modified QE Systems – Software Status Software SLC 90% complete SLC Aware coding is complete and debugging 50% done Displays SCP done EDM Test displays – done Mockups – 80% done Main displays – 30% done Databases SLC: All new units added to SLC database (MCOR30 to MCOR12) EPICS: Templates and databases 90% done Substitution databases are 40% done Polynomials are 25% done

Magnet Controls Group LCLS Magnet Controls luchini@slac.stanford.edu August 16, 2006 10 New Systems - B24 Testing Status Purpose – Verify wiring, basic operation as integrated systems Controller-Power Supply-Local Mode (25% done) BX01, 02 and BXH1,2,3,4 successfully tested In process – testing PLC, 3 MCOR bulk power supplies, MCOR12/30s Then test BXS, SOL1, SOL2, and BX11,12,13,14 Network/Controller Integration (25% done) Network/EPICS integration with Intermediate PS Controllers VME integration with MCOR12 and MCOR30 controllers Remote Mode – Network/Power Supply Integration Completion September 15, 2006

Magnet Controls Group LCLS Magnet Controls luchini@slac.stanford.edu August 16, 2006 11 New Systems - Field Test Plan Three weeks needed in November-December timeframe Hi pot DC cables DC cable / magnet polarity checks B and V Run Intermediates in Local Mode to verify transductor polarity Run Intermediates and MCORs in Remote Mode Addressing is correct Voltage and current compliance All readbacks are functional Klixon, water flow, ground current interlocks function and display correct status Tune response of each system

Magnet Controls Group LCLS Magnet Controls luchini@slac.stanford.edu August 16, 2006 12 Modified S21 QE System – Test Plan – Last Slide Test Plan Initial tests – 1 week, 2 nd week October. Check field wiring, isolating and reversing/shorting switch functionality, Use 3 small (< 50V, less than 10J) power supplies Force EMHP controller bit to SLC/LCLS modes – see table Integrated tests – 1 week, Nov-Dec. Check SLC/LCLS modes from SCP – see table BitBulk PSQ21201Q21301 SLC + I LCLS0 -I 0
