Mobile Internet The Mobile Internet refers to accessibility to the Web using mobile devices such as mobile phones. Such access does not require a fixed landline connection or a modem. Unlike fixed Internet there is massive growth and global demand for mobile internet. Mobile Internet offers advantages of accessibility Anywhere, Anytime, Low Learning and Low maintenance. Mobile Internet represents a new computing cycle: Mainframe->Minicomputer->PC->PC Internet->Mobile Internet

Global Trends Toward Mobile Internet Usage World trends reveal that mobile phone usage is growing more rapidly than any other consumer product and there is high phone penetration. However the 2008 Morgan Stanley Report cited that phones with data connections were less than 20% of the total number of phones. India, South Africa, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are experiencing the fastest growth in Mobile internet usage. In 2007, 797.6 million mobile phone subscriptions worldwide or approximately 25% include web browsing.

Mobile Internet Pervasive… Booking Tickets, Reservations and Travel – Travel by its very nature is mobile – Real-time updates and Information on flight delays, gate information and e-tickets – Travel Agents and Airlines increase efficiency through richer contact with a more informed customer, making the entire process more well-oiled – In 2007 IATA advised its members to upgrade its bar-coding system to two- dimensional barcodes which can be scanned from paper tickets or mobile phones – In 2008 Continental Airlines tested a paperless boarding pass system using mobile phones with encrypted barcode – Cambridge University study cited that ‘going mobile’ can save the travel industry more than US $600 million in one year

It is the circles of people you know, including family, friends and acquaintances from your job or community life. Social Networking via internet allows people to communicate whose path wouldn’t have necessarily crossed because they reside across borders.
