A physical change is when an object’s appearance is different, but still has the same substance.
3
There are many different physical changes. An example would be if you took a piece of wood and carved it into a baseball bat. The wood looks different, but is still wood, just in a different shape.
4
Physical changes in solids are a bit different. Not all solids can be turned into liquid or gas. If the solid is ice or metal, it can be heated and melted into a liquid. Once the solid is a liquid, it can sometimes be turned into a gas when it is heated.
5
If there is a physical change in a liquid, it can turn into either a solid or gas. When water freezes it turns into ice(a solid), and when water is being boiled it turns into steam(a gas).
6
If gas gets very cold, it turns into a liquid. When the gas is a liquid, it can freeze into a solid. An example would be when carbon dioxide(a gas) is frozen, it turns into dry ice, a solid.
