2 Confidential and Proprietary - © Rollins CollegePage 2 OPENING SESSION/ TEAM BUILDING Facilitator: Brian Jackson, The Orion TrustBrian Jackson One of the important goals of the Leadership Academy is to build a strong sense of community and teamwork among participant leaders who represent a diverse cross-section of campus departments and functions. Through a variety of team building exercises, this opening session will help to establish a spirit of community among participants and lay the ground work for productive team interactions in future sessions. In addition, we will establish a case - and a basis - for the benefits of timely and candid feedback.

Why can't some managers and supervisors influence their employees to peak performing levels? One reason is that they have not capitalized on their own leadership potential. This program will acquaint participants with 5 leadership behaviors that make a powerful difference. Participants will also learn the single most important trait of a superior leader. Additionally, participants will learn to lead by example, rather than managing by memo. Specific techniques will be emphasized on how to boost your leadership abilities.

Participants will become familiar with 4 powerful leadership styles, and discover the techniques of how and when to use each style.

DiSC is a personal assessment tool used to improve work productivity, teamwork and communication. DiSC is non- judgmental and helps people discuss their behavioral differences. If not managed properly, conflict can escalate to the point where it can disrupt work and working relationships. This program is intended to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively address and resolve conflicts that arise within the workplace. Program participants will be required to read the book Becoming a Conflict Competent Leader in preparation for this session. Learning Objectives/Topics Assess personal conflict management styles and learn effective approaches to conflict resolution. Learn how to evaluate conflict situations and determine appropriate intervention strategies. Learn alternative methods and strategies for mediating and resolving conflict in different situations.

7 Confidential and Proprietary - © Rollins CollegePage 7 INFLUENCING CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS Facilitator: Dr. Robert Prescott, SPHR, Executive-in-Residence in Management at the Crummer School of BusinessDr. Robert Prescott In this session, Dr. Bob Prescott discusses skills to help program participants learn how to handle “crucial conversations” — conversations that occur when the stakes are high, emotions run strong, and opinions vary. Crucial conversations skills prepare participants for high-stakes situations with a proven technique; transform anger and hurt feelings into powerful dialogue; make it safe to talk about almost anything; are persuasive, not abrasive; improve nearly every professional and personal relationship; and yield major professional improvements in areas like productivity, quality, safety, diversity, and change management. Learnings are based on the best selling Crucial Conversations series of books.

Learning Objectives/Topics: Recognize the importance of understanding diversity representation as part of the business strategy Explore the intent vs. impact of our interactions Practice techniques that raise an our personal consciousness

Bach, Ph.D., Executive Director, Center for Leadership Development, Crummer Graduate School of BusinessSusan A. Bach The purpose of this interactive session is to provide concepts, exercises and techniques to help participants unleash the creativity within them and open themselves up to embracing innovation, which often leads to positive workplace change. When we are comfortable with our own creativity and open to creativity in others, the work environment tends to become more positive, enjoyable, productive and service oriented. Learning Objectives/Topics: Enhance awareness of their creativity Learn the most prevalent behaviors that stifle creativity in the workplace Experiment with techniques to unleash creativity Create a creativity action step to continue opening themselves and their workplace to new possibilities

Bach, Ph.D., Executive Director, Center for Leadership Development, Crummer Graduate School of BusinessSusan A. Bach The purpose of this session is to help participants develop a broader perspective on managing change and helping others enhance their receptiveness to change. The session focuses on awareness of why people resist change and how that can manifest itself in the workplace. In addition, the module facilitates developing a personal strategy to become more receptive to embracing change as well as creating a culture in which staff view the positive side of, and support, change initiatives. Learning Objectives/Topics: Enhance awareness of how they are impacted by change Learn the common negative responses to change and how they impact the workplace Discuss techniques to build a team culture receptive to change initiatives Develop a strategy to incorporate these practices into their relationship building and leadership style

When used effectively, feedback can be a powerful tool in facilitating the learning process and in helping employees achieve at their highest potential, both individually and as a group. Leaders can improve their effectiveness by learning how to receive useful feedback to enhance their own performance. This program is intended to assist participants develop the competencies needed to give and receive feedback effectively. Learning Objectives/Topics Learn how to give and accept feedback Practice and experience the impact of providing and receiving feedback Learn how use feedback to improve individual and group performance

This session will also serve as a graduation reception to recognize participants for their completion of the program.
