Downtown Frederick is BIG BUSINESS… Some 7,000 people go to work in Downtown Frederick every day and patronize the more than 150 locally-owned specialty shops and 50 restaurants located on our ever-expanding commercial corridors

An average of 11,000 people attend First Saturday each month… City of Frederick population is approximately 65,000 We reach beyond our community to increase our customer pool… 27% of First Saturday attendees are from a location outside of Frederick County (MD, PA, VA and beyond) Culture Builds Community Good for Business

Art & culture events draw crowds… Event related spending by arts & culture audiences in Frederick County totaled $6.6 million (excluding the cost of admission) Come for the art, stay for dinner… Nonprofit arts & culture event attendees spend an average of $14.03 per person (excluding the cost of admission) Good for Business Culture Builds Community

A&E designation provides a financial incentive to improve buildings… The property tax incentives are offered by both the City and County to induce arts-related development Good for Real Estate Culture Builds Community

The last ten years: – Increased the number of businesses and their success In 2012, 66% of Downtown Frederick businesses had revenues better than the previous year – Enhanced our arts venues Griffin Art Center, Weinberg Center for the Arts Achieving Results

The last ten years: – Expanded the number of public art projects Becky the Calf, North of Fourth Mural, Heritage Trail Markers and more – Developed a new and greatly enhanced Visitor Center – Presented Artomatic Achieving Results
