“My Glory, and the Lifter Up of Mine Head” Pastor Timothy Hinkle April 29, 2012

Psalm 3 (King James Version) 1Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Psalm 3 (New King James Version) 1 LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. 2 Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah 3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. 4 I cried to the LORD with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah

Psalm 3 (New King James Version) 5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around. 7 Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8 Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah

כּבד כּבוד “glory” ka ̂ bo ̂ d kaw-bode', kaw-bode' figuratively in a good sense, splendor or copiousness: - glorious (-ly), glory, honour (-able).

Do you understand what that means? God IS our glory God IS our splendor God IS our copiousness God IS our honor

Isaiah 64:6 (New King James Version) 6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

Isaiah 53:5-7 (New King James Version) 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

What’s the point? Jesus took on our sin so that we could take on His glory!

There is a consequence for sin— DEATH Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We’ve been REDEEMED Matthew 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” 1 Timothy 2:6 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, Hebrews 9:12 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

Selah BEING SAVED REQUIRES AN ACTION ON OUR PART! WE MUST CRY TO THE LORD AND ACCEPT HIS GIFT OF SALVATION THROUGH JESUS

Selah

Do you want God’s blessing on your life? Let us ALL call out to God—for He will hear us and give us HIS SALVATION! He will DELIVER us! He will HEAL us! LET US ALL NOW PRAY
