How did we get the name “Kentucky”? The Iroquois Indians called the land “Kentake” which means “Great Meadows”.

Coal is Kentucky”s most valuable non-renewable resource. Other plentiful renewable resources are soil, water, sunlight, and trees.

Mammoth Cave is the only national park in Kentucky and is located in the Pennyroyal region.

The Kentucky Derby is run at Churchill Downs in Louisville each May. The Derby is also called a “Run for the Roses” and has been called the most exciting two minutes in sports!
