2 Highlights Dr. Choban is a Psychology Professor at West Virginia Wesleyan, and is planning on retiring Spring 2008. This project will help archive the history of one of Wesleyan’s honored faculty. Who is Dr Choban? Biography History of Family Origin School Life Occupations Now & Future

3 Who Is Dr. Choban? Born in 1938 Parents Were ‘First-Generation’ Americans Was in the United States Service Marines Not only was he a Wesleyan alum, but also received his Doctorate at WVU!

5 Born In New Jersey Graduated High School in New Jersey Was asked to be a delivery boy for a butcher during his teens. A friend got him a job as a rural Mail Carrier for several years until conscribed into the Marines in 1967.

6 After his term in the military, he became a leading mail carrier, and also worked small part-time jobs to support family. While working as a custodian at a Methodist Church, the head minister suggested he go to college. Was 28 when starting at Wesleyan. Professor Suggested that he go to Grad- School Applied to WVU for Grad-School

7 Post-WVU While Studying at WVU for his Doctorate in Psychology, he was placed in a compulsory graduate studies work program. There he did statistical analysis on the operational efficiency of State Hospitals (mental wards) in West Virginia In 1982 Dr. Rich Calef Called up Dr. Choban and asked if he wanted to teach statistics @ Wesleyan. Choban insisted the job be full-time n order to take it. His family once again moved back to Buckhannon, and Dr. Choban has been here ever since.
