Washington, Frederick Douglass, Lucretia Mott, Sarah Douglass President Lincoln and many other Northerners join in!

Reason No. 2 “The delicate equilibrium of power” The rights of states over the federal gov’t is being challenged by the Southerners Fear of the Blacks enslaving the South Southern Way of life is being attacked Missouri Compromise, Maine joins, Kansas the 34 th State and Bleeding Kansas, and West Virginia separates from Virginia Republican President Lincoln elected-will not allow slave states in the West. Secession Begins South Carolina first!

Reason No. 3 Banks of the North charge more for loans than Southern Banks Southern economy is being challenged The Industrial North vs. The Agrarian South-More money in the North High Tariffs on imported goods-the South imports way more than the North North Needs INFASTRUCTURE to manufacture, the south does not have much manufacturing! What is infrastructure? Answer- Roads, Canals, Railroads… How do you pay for infrastructure? The Answer-___________
