11. 11 Funding Mechanism No fees for returning medications to pharmacies. We work with the provincial professional association for pharmacists and their regulatory body to advertise and promote the program to their members. Pharmacist participation is voluntary. Upon completing registration, the collection site will get brochures, posters and instructions on how the Medications Return Program operates.

14. 14 Once the MRP container is full, the pharmacist fax the Program Administrator to arrange pick up and replacement of containers within 7 days. A database is maintained; we track the collection from pharmacies; we store products until we can transport to a licensed incinerator for destruction. In 2007, British Columbia (4.3 pop.), 23,284 kg of medications or 2,129 containers were picked up from pharmacies (913). B.C. Medications Return Program
