Milestones and timelines in National planning process A National Poverty Reduction Strategy (ECP) was preparated and is being implemented for the period 2003-2007; A two-year program is prepared under the coordination of the ministry of planning with the participation of other line ministries; An annual budget program is linked with the two year program;

3. Next steps for costing the MDGs The ECP will be revised and extended. This will constitute an opportunity to align this framework with the MDGs. A needs assessment exercise would then be undertaken.

4. Major challenges Political commitment needs to be scaled up; Statistical system reinforced; Weak institutional capacity; A medium term expenditure framework required; A better dialogue among development partners, including Govt., Civil society and the donor community;

5. Expectations of Support from the UNCT and other Partners Technical assistance; supplementary financial aid;
