Founded by May 28th 1892 with 182 members 1st president: John Muir Surpassed 1000 members in 1908 "Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike." -- John Muir, The Yosemite (1912)

4 Acheivments Protect land Support or oppose legislature
Club encourages Congress to pass a Renewable Energy Standard that requires utilities to produce 15% of their power from clean, renewable energy by Club continued its string of successes, stopping construction of 68 new coal fired power plants Helped pass Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.
