Scenario You have been asked to plan a 5 minute public service announcement, highlighting the dangers of school life and precautions that can be taken. It’s expected that it is light hearted and gets the message across in a simple way. Issues you could look at are: Correct etiquette when queuing for a bus, How to line up in the dinner queue; Healthy eating; Running in corridors; Removing food from the hall; Disposing of rubbish in the hall; Being equipped; Going off site and the consequences; ETC…. The video should include a minimum of: 3 shot types, 2 angles and 1 Movement A minimum of 7 different video clips should be recorded to produce at least 5 minutes of usable footage Candidates must ensure that their finished product would be suitable for presenting to a client; this includes the spelling, grammar and consistency of any text and fonts used in addition to the identified criteria. The final video cut should be exported in a format that can be read without specialist software.

Michael Gamble Teessider Michael Gamble studied photography in college and later went to university at Teesside University. Photography has since become more of an obsession. He has worked in Britain, taking photos from band nights to modelling shoots. After university he moved to Whistler, starting out as a SKI boot hire technician, he still works there. Only difference is he is a highly renowned photographer and videographer. In the past month alone he has won second place in a worldwide competition, with this inspiring video, based on his life in his hometown of Whistler Canada. 30 2.1 Identify client requirements based on their brief to include the target audience What is the purpose of the video? Who is the intended audience of the video? Describe the requirements you will need to fulfil the assignment?

2.2 Generate a range of original ideas for the video and review with the client, identifying the length, content and production considerations Candidates should develop a range of 3 ideas to show to the client, these may be evidenced as mood boards, spider diagrams as applicable. Considerations/design may include lighting sound camera angles, weather, background noise, set dressing props etc. A script may also be developed to include genre, characters, action and scenes. CriteriaYesNo You must produce a 5 minute long video with a suitable soundtrack (not necessarily copyright free, but you must justify the use of it in terms of the purpose and audience). The video should include a minimum of: 3 shot types, 2 angles and 1 Movement Contains a minimum of 7 different video clips. You have check spelling, grammar and consistency of any text and fonts used. At least 5 minutes of usable footage. The final video cut should be exported in a format that can be read without specialist software.

Mood boards x3 A mood board is a collection of ideas. Generally these ideas are in the form of images. These can form a style/theme. E.G. if you were doing a game on frogs you may have many images of frogs, font types and button examples to help you when storyboarding.

Storyboard Storyboards are there in industry to guide the next level of creation. Within college we are the next stage. It is important however that we create these correctly and use them. This ensures our product is well thought out and implemented in a professional way. This isn't to say small changes cant happen.

2.3 Review the range of original ideas with the client and fully plan the agreed solution The agreed solution must be developed to detail the content, scenes, camera angles, shot types, lighting, sound, dialogue, narrative, characters and interaction as appropriate. The video should include a minimum of 3 shot types, 2 angles and 1 movement.

2.4 Create and maintain a project plan a) tasks b) timescales c) resources The candidate should develop and show evidence of using a project plan throughout their work changing timings, if needs be, as the project progresses

For example asset manipulation, file formats, compression techniques, permission and subject matter/location, copyright, IPR, trademarks etc ConstraintsSolutions

They will design an appropriate feedback form and obtain feedback from several test users. Create a questionnaire to fully test for product requirements. Ensure questionnaire isn't leading in anyway. Remember yes/no style questions lead to data, although no answers may need room for people to make a comment as to what was wrong. Ensure you use sentences. Fully describe what you are thinking! The examiners are not mind readers!!

4.2 Critically evaluate the quality of the finished product and its fitness for purpose Critical personal evaluation, commenting on the quality of finished product and its fitness for purpose Comment on the: quality of finished product fitness for purpose In reference to client requirements.

4.3 Evaluate the video with the client and analyse feedback Compare client and videographer feedback. Obtain feedback from the client and/or the target audience

4.4 Identify areas for improvement and further development of the video, using your own critical evaluation and the analysis of client feedback Candidates should be identifying future needs in terms of hardware provision on which a video can be played back e.g. HD Large TV through to small screen mobile phones. Improvement 1 Reason for improvement Improvement 2 Reason for improvement Improvement 3 Reason for improvement

4.5 Review the technical and aesthetic qualities of the final outcome Maintain accurate written records of relevant information about assets obtained, such as source, ownership, any restrictions on use, where they are located, filenames given ComponentSourceDate/time accessedCopyright free? Y/N
