The Corporal Works of Mercy
2
Corporal works of mercy is a strange phrase but it means the practical things you can do to help others:
3
Can you think of a story from the Gospel where most of these things are said? If you cannot remember the story then look up MT25 31-46
4
Short Form Someone asks Jesus about how we will be judged. Jesus tells a story The story says people are divided into Sheep and Goats.
5
Sheep get involved and help people in different ways. Jesus says that when you do this especially for the least of people, those who don’t matter who do not count, then you are doing it for God Goats on the other hand do not get involved in helping others and are therefore not behaving in the way God wants. The way you help others is what counts!
6
Isaiah 58: 6-10 Isaiah also told us to help people to make a difference. Look up the reference above and find out what Isaiah said. How is this similar to Jesus?

Work of MercyExplanationWhat we can do To Feed the HungryPeople can be hungry for: actual food- think of Missio and their work or Cafod They can also be hungry for acceptance/ Friendship If we feed the hungry we need to try to make the work a more equal place but also look at how we react to others. Organise events to raise money for organisations like Missio and Cafod. Make sure no one is left out Try to share what we have with others. Can you complete the table for the other works of Mercy?
