3 Student Behavior Expectations At GVA, we use the Positive Behavior System (PBS), which strives to create a positive learning environment through respect, responsibility, and readiness to learn. We believe that students learn through experience and that self-reflection is essential

6 If the expectations are not met: The student receives a verbal warning reminding them of the expectations. 2 nd Warning the teacher will reinforce the expected behavior and pull student aside to have a conversation 3 rd communication with the parents 4 th sent to Mrs. Howard Harmful behavior will be immediately directed to Mrs. Howard. 7 Student Organization: Agendas Each child is getting an agenda to keep track of their daily assignments. Students are expected to write down their homework at school and complete their homework that evening. Parents please sign the agenda every night. We will check your child’s homework daily.

8 Student Organization: Binders Each student will only need one binder for both English and Spanish class. Senor Ronda will have plastic page protectors for each subject area in his class and Ms. Torres will have dividers for each subject in the back of the binders for her class.

10 Homework We assign homework to help our students form good study habits and review content already learned. Homework is mandatory. If homework is not completed they will complete it during their recess time.

11 Homework for English Reading for 10 minutes every night Fluency practice 2 minutes plus graphing Spelling/ Vocabulary Practice

12 Homework for Spanish Reading in Spanish for 10 minutes every night (check level of book with me) Singapore Math Workbook – 1 to 2 pages max of review

14 Assessments ● MAPS Beginning, Middle, and End of the Year Computer Based Test ● PARRC and CMAS are given in the Spring ● Dibels and DAZE testing for Fluency and Comprehension
